Once in El Chaltén, you will get ready for one of the region’s most iconic hikes: the guided trek to Laguna de los Tres, an unforgettable experience that has been part of Fitz Roy Expeditions’ guided tours since 1995.

The trek begins at the Electric River Bridge, where the trail gradually leads into the spectacular mountain landscape. Along the way, you will cross lenga forests and discover the traces of ancient glaciers that shaped the valley.

As you continue, some of the massif’s impressive peaks will come into view, including Saint-Exupéry, Poincenot, Mermoz, Guillaumet and Fitz Roy, accompanying you along the trail toward one of the day’s most memorable moments.

Upon reaching Río Blanco, a former climbers’ base camp, the most demanding part of the Laguna de los Tres trek begins: the final ascent across the moraine. The total elevation gain is approximately 900 meters, making this a challenging hike.

Your effort will be rewarded when Laguna de los Tres comes into view, surrounded by the towering granite walls and glaciers of Fitz Roy. This is one of Patagonia’s most iconic landscapes and one of the best places to appreciate the immense scale of the massif.

After taking in the scenery and relaxing in this remarkable natural setting, we will begin the return journey, exploring the Laguna Capri area before arriving once again at the starting point.
