Embark on today’s “Adventure Between Lakes: From Puerto Octay, Lake Rupanco to Puyehue” and let yourself be enchanted by the wonders of Chile’s Los Lagos Region. The journey begins in the picturesque city of Puerto Varas, traveling along the scenic Carretera Austral with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. Our first destination is Puerto Octay, a historic town renowned for its German architectural heritage and charming streets.
We will set off from Puerto Varas, heading north on the Pan-American Highway for 20 km until we reach Frutillar. Our adventure continues towards Puerto Octay, located on the northern shore of Lake Llanquihue. This area features a strong German influence and is notable as the first port from which agricultural products were shipped to Osorno. In Puerto Octay, we will stroll through its picturesque streets and lovely plaza, taking in the town’s rich history and architecture.
Our tour proceeds for 54 km through scenic rural landscapes. We will pass by the Rupanco Hacienda, where the region’s agricultural and livestock activities provide insight into the area’s fertility and prosperity.
