Book a private day of fishing, fly fishing and/or spinning, accompanied by the best local guides who will take you on a float trip with wading on the Limay River. This excursion takes up to two anglers per cata-raft, boats specifically designed for navigating mountain rivers, which also have excellent capabilities for fishing on lakes where motorboats are not allowed. On the Limay River, we will float approximately 12 km, fishing from the boat and also stopping to wade in the best fishing spots, inaccessible to most fishermen. At midday we will enjoy a delicious lunch prepared and served by the river. Then we will continue floating and fishing throughout the afternoon until we reach the river`s departure point, where our assistants will be waiting with the vehicle(s) and trailer(s). After changing, you will return to your hotel or accommodation. We provide all the necessary equipment for the activity: waders, footwear, rods, reels, lines, flies or lures, etc.

Tour Description

In the morning, you will be picked up at your hotel by your guide to head to the Limay River. This great river flows through the Patagonian steppe, a spectacular area of the National Park, with incredible scenery and a pleasant climate. The clarity of its waters, wonderful landscapes, and excellent fishing make a float trip on the Limay River a truly unforgettable experience. It is the most important river within the National Park, offering different fishing opportunities for novice and advanced anglers alike. It is a haven for Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, and Patagonian Perch.
The Limay River is excellent for dry fly fishing from November to March. During April, enormous trout migrate from the large lake to the river to begin their spawning cycle. The Limay River has five different sections, each about 12 km long, within the area near San Carlos de Bariloche, offering a variety of excursions. Upon arriving at the boarding point on the Limay River, your guide will explain the two fishing techniques we offer for the excursion: Fly Fishing: This involves casting flies—"dressed" hooks—which are imitations of insects, small fish, shrimp, etc., using a weighted line specifically designed for this purpose, with a precise technique. Undoubtedly, this method requires practice and dedication just to become accustomed to casting. However, this type of fishing is becoming increasingly popular worldwide.
  • Spinning: This fishing technique consists of casting and retrieving artificial lures such as spoons, simulating the movement of a small organism in the water, which the voracious trout will attack if we manage to fool it.
  • Then, the excursion will begin, navigating the Limay River and fishing with the technique you choose.
After two hours of fishing from the boat, you will arrive at the riverbank to enjoy a delicious lunch in nature. After a rest, you will continue floating and fishing during the afternoon in the best spots the Limay River has to offer. Always accompanied by your guide, you will learn about the history of the San Carlos de Bariloche region and the best fishing options and fish species found there. After a 12 km day trip, your guide will take you to the river departure point, where you will be met by cars to be taken back to your hotel. The fishing season begins each year on November 1st and ends within Nahuel Huapi National Park, Northern Patagonia. However, for off-season fishing, Lakes Nahuel Huapi, Gutierrez, and Mascardi are open during the entire months of May and October. Lake Moreno is open for fishing in all three modalities year-round, so we fish there during the winter. Among our clients, we find anglers of all ages and experience levels, from absolute beginners to very experienced. No fishing experience is necessary to enjoy our excursions! Our guides will gladly share their knowledge of the area and fishing techniques with anglers of any experience level. We tailor each excursion to the needs and preferences of our clients.

IMPORTANT: When making your reservation, please choose the type of fishing you want to do and/or the location.
