Tour Description
In the morning, your professional guide will pick you up directly from your hotel to take you to the Pichi Leufú River. This river, typical of the Patagonian steppe, can only be fished by wading due to its unique shape. Situated 60 km from Bariloche, the river is set amidst a semi-arid landscape and breathtaking mountains. Offering a safe environment for wading, the Pichi Leufú is perfect for both those new to fishing and experienced anglers alike.
This river is home to rainbow trout, brown trout, and Patagonian perch.
Upon arrival at the starting point on the Pichi Leufú River, your guide will introduce the two fishing techniques available for your adventure:
- Fly fishing: This method involves casting artificial flies—hooks dressed to resemble insects, small fish, shrimp, and more—using a weighted line and a specific technique. Fly fishing demands a bit of practice and patience to master the casting, but it is gaining popularity worldwide among fishing enthusiasts.
- Spinning: With spinning, anglers cast and retrieve artificial lures like spoons, imitating the movement of prey in the water and enticing trout to strike.
Following two hours of fishing from the boat, you’ll pause on the riverbank to savor a delicious lunch in the heart of nature. After a restful break, the excursion continues as you float and fish throughout the afternoon, visiting the best fishing spots the Pichi Leufú River has to offer.
Throughout the journey, your guide will share insights about the history of the San Carlos de Bariloche region, as well as the top local fishing opportunities and species found here.
At the end of the 12 km excursion, your guide will accompany you to the river exit point, where vehicles will be waiting to return you comfortably to your hotel.
