Tour Description
In the morning, your knowledgeable guide will pick you up directly from your hotel and accompany you to the departure point of the lake you have selected for your fishing adventure.
Nahuel Huapi is the largest and most significant lake within the National Park, lending its name to the park itself. Vast in both size and depth, Nahuel Huapi features seven distinct arms, each with unique characteristics. The lake is home to large trout, mainly rainbow and brown, with some impressive brook trout as well. While these big trout can be challenging to catch on the fly, they offer a rewarding experience for anglers. Fishing and exploring this expansive lake is done by motorboat, utilizing fly fishing, spinning, or trolling techniques.
Lake Gutierrez is situated just 11 km from Bariloche and is an excellent fishing destination, especially on windy days, thanks to its sheltered bays and unique location. Surrounded by stunning scenery, Lake Gutierrez is a prime spot for catching rainbow, brown, and brook trout.
Lake Moreno is accessible for fishing throughout the year. Located 16 km from downtown Bariloche, it provides excellent opportunities to catch rainbow and brook trout. The area is renowned for its breathtaking views, impressive lakeside residences, and the dramatic backdrop of the Andes Mountains.
Upon reaching the boarding point at your selected lake, your guide will introduce and demonstrate the fishing techniques recommended for your excursion:
- Fly Fishing: This technique involves casting flies—dressed hooks that imitate insects, small fish, shrimp, and more—using a specially weighted line and precise casting skills. Fly fishing requires practice and dedication to master, but it continues to grow in popularity worldwide among anglers.
- Spinning: Spinning involves casting and retrieving artificial lures, such as spoons, to mimic the movement of small aquatic creatures. If you can deceive the trout, you’ll enjoy the thrill of their aggressive strikes.
- Trolling: The lakes of Nahuel Huapi National Park are ideal for trolling. This method consists of dragging artificial lures at slow speeds from a motorboat while you take in the spectacular scenery.
The excursion then begins, as you set out on Lake Nahuel Huapi, Lake Moreno, or Lake Gutierrez, fishing with your chosen technique.
After two hours of fishing from the boat, you’ll pause at the lakeshore to savor a delicious lunch surrounded by nature. Following a relaxing break, you’ll continue fishing and floating through the afternoon, exploring the lakes' best spots.
With your guide always by your side, you’ll also learn about the history of the San Carlos de Bariloche region, as well as the top fishing options and the fish species that inhabit these waters.
After traveling 12 km, your guide will escort you to the lake’s departure point, where vehicles will be waiting to return you safely to your hotel.
