Cristina Discovery Stay

The tour starts at 7:30 AM with hotel pick-up for all passengers staying in downtown Calafate. We will travel roughly 45 km through the rural outskirts, providing the opportunity to admire charming wooden houses along the route.

Upon arrival at Punta Bandera Port on Lake Argentino, we will board a modern and comfortable vessel. The navigation begins as we depart the port, journeying through impressive icebergs along the lake's northern arm. We will reach the navigation limit in the Upsala Channel, where you will experience a panoramic view of the Upsala Glacier's face. The voyage continues through the Cristina Channel to the disembarkation point at the Estancia, arriving around 11:30 AM. Our group will spend about six hours at the Estancia, starting with a visit to the Museum of Local Customs, housed in a former shearing shed, where you will learn about the Estancia's fascinating history.

Afterwards, 4x4 vehicles specially designed for rugged terrain will be ready to take us on a 9.5 km journey through the Feruglio Range along a mountain trail that was recently covered by glaciers. Throughout this adventure, you will witness scenery of remarkable geological interest, leading us to the Continental Ice Refuge.

From this point, we will embark on an approximately 20-minute walk to reach the Upsala Viewpoint, situated 550 meters above sea level. Here, you can admire Lake Guillermo, the impressive eastern face of the Upsala Glacier, the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, and the Murallón and Don Bosco Hills.

At about 5:30 PM, we will return to the vessel to begin our journey back to Punta Bandera Port. Upon arrival and disembarkation, at approximately 7:30 PM, passengers will be transferred back to their hotels, marking the end of the tour.
