Tour Description
We begin our journey from the selected hotels in El Calafate at 6:30 AM, traveling for about two and a half hours across the Patagonian steppe, heading north to south, until we reach the Cancha Carrera border crossing.
From this point, we enter the stunning southern region of Chile and make our way into the Torres del Paine National Park ("Blue" in the Tehuelche language, referencing the dominant color you’ll see throughout this destination). Here, our adventure starts with a combination of guided walks and thrilling 4x4 vehicle tours.
After crossing the Cerro Castillo border, we follow the route alongside Lago Toro to reach the Serrano River. Along this scenic drive, we will enjoy panoramic views of the Paine Grande and Almirante Nieto mountains. We’ll pause here to take photos and to admire the distant beauty of Grey Lake.
At around 11:30 AM, we arrive at the Rio Serrano checkpoint where park rangers will check entrance tickets. We then continue to the Phoe campsite, where you’ll have free time to enjoy lunch and admire the breathtaking panorama of the Cuernos del Paine.
By approximately 1:00 PM, we will reach Puerto Pudeto, the starting point of the trail to Salto Grande. This hike takes around 40 minutes and, if the weather allows, we’ll extend our walk (about 50 minutes more) all the way to Lake Nordenskjold for a close-up view of the Cuernos del Paine.
We then proceed by vehicle to the Lake Nordenskjold Upper Lookout, passing by Swan Lagoon before arriving at Bitter Lagoon. Here, we will enjoy panoramic vistas of the iconic Torres del Paine.
After exploring these remarkable locations, we head back to Cerro Castillo to begin our return journey at around 5:00 PM, reaching our selected hotels in El Calafate at approximately 9:00 PM.
