🚢 Lake Viedma Excursion with Navigation and Transfers from El Calafate
❄️ Full Day Among Glaciers, Navigation and Trekking in El Chaltén
Discover the wonders of Southern Patagonia on this full-day Lake Viedma adventure, which features glacier navigation, iconic scenery, easy hikes, and a visit to El Chaltén, all with round-trip transfers from El Calafate. Your journey begins early with hotel pick-up in El Calafate, traveling along the legendary Route 40 towards northern Santa Cruz. En route, enjoy a stop at the historic Parador La Leona, a perfect spot to relax and take in the unique Patagonian landscape.
🚢 Navigation on Lake Viedma
The navigation begins at Puerto Bahía Túnel, just 18 km from El Chaltén. Once aboard, we set sail south along the shoreline, offering breathtaking views of the majestic Huemul Massif.
After about 40 minutes of navigation, we arrive at Cape Horn Bay, where we disembark for an easy trek leading to a panoramic viewpoint on the Cape Horn Peninsula. From this vantage point, enjoy stunning views of Iceberg Bay, where icebergs drift after breaking away from the glacier.
After the hike, return to the boat for a close and frontal view of the Viedma Glacier, the largest glacier within Los Glaciares National Park. This unforgettable moment allows you to witness Patagonian ice up close.
🏔️ El Chaltén and Chorrillo del Salto
After the navigation, the excursion continues to the town of El Chaltén, recognized as Argentina’s National Capital of Trekking. Here, you’ll enjoy a guided tour of the village and a brief, gentle hike to Chorrillo del Salto, a picturesque waterfall surrounded by Andean forest. 🚌 Return to El Calafate: After completing the activities in El Chaltén, we head back to El Calafate, reaching your hotel around 19:30, after a day filled with the most iconic landscapes of Patagonia.
