Tour Description
In El Calafate, our journey starts with the pick-up of guests from their centrally located hotels.
Our first stop is Punta Walichu, an archaeological site situated just 8 km from the city. Here, travelers will have the opportunity to discover the traces left by the first inhabitants of these lands, enjoying a walk among rock shelters and caves adorned with cave paintings (both authentic and recreated). Additionally, you will be treated to an outstanding panoramic view of Lake Argentino and the Andes Mountains.
The tour continues as we explore the main streets of El Calafate’s old town, where you can admire the historic pioneer buildings as well as the structures that make up the current civic center. Our knowledgeable guide will share captivating stories about the first settlers, and provide insights into the local flora, fauna, and other noteworthy aspects of this charming tourist destination.
We then visit the Coastal Walkway and Redonda Bay, located just steps from the shores of Lake Argentino, where you can observe the rich diversity of local birdlife.
Next, we proceed to the Historical Interpretation Center for a self-guided visit, covering the period from the glaciations up to the present day. Here, you will also find reproductions of the dinosaurs that once roamed the region, making it one of the leading paleontological museums in Patagonia.
Our adventure concludes at La Chacra Las Moras, a site renowned for its production of fine fruits and vegetables, offering visitors a delightful experience among its crops.
After an enriching afternoon exploring the highlights of El Calafate, we return guests to their central hotels.
