Patagonia is an immense region that remains largely untouched by most travelers, making it a hidden gem for those eager to truly discover its wonders. However, traditional excursions designed for mass tourism often overlook these unique experiences.
Your adventure will take you to the private nature reserve "Estancia 25 de Mayo", home to areas with remarkable geological features and significant contributions to Argentine paleontology. Here, you’ll find fossil remains dating back approximately 15 million years.
Trace the footsteps of the first inhabitants, the indigenous peoples who settled in this region 10,000 years ago. This 4x4 safari also offers the chance to observe the native wildlife and flora that give this special corner of Patagonia its unique character.
You’ll savor a delicious picnic lunch or dinner at the "La Sección" outpost, depending on the time of your tour.

Tour Description
At 9 AM or 4 PM, depending on your selected tour, passengers are picked up from their hotels in a comfortable 4x4 vehicle. Once everyone is aboard, the journey begins with an ascent through the Huyliche and Calafate hills, reaching the private Estancia 25 de Mayo National Park.
On this remarkable 4x4 adventure, we venture to the most secluded spots of Deep Patagonia, departing from the city of El Calafate heading south. Along the way, we stop at panoramic viewpoints, offering breathtaking vistas of the Verlika and Baguales hills, which define the southern boundary with Chile. We continue following the Calafate stream, observing the changing flora as we climb higher, until we arrive at the Villalba family outpost, the original settlers of the estancia. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to take in the magnificent scenery while learning about the family’s fascinating history. As we move through the property, we'll also have a brief overview of the rural activities taking place on the land.
Next, we disembark to begin the fossil trekking experience. Over the course of 30 minutes, we’ll explore and uncover archaeological sites dating back to the Ice Age. Immersed in the Patagonian steppe, we may spot various native species, while our knowledgeable guides share insights about the wildlife and their unique behaviors.
Returning to the ravine, we’ll enjoy a delicious traditional country stew at the "La Sección" stand.
After lunch or dinner, we begin the return journey to El Calafate.
