From your centrally located hotel in Puerto Madryn, we will begin our journey early in the morning towards the Patagonian coast to start this exciting adventure.

Our drive will take approximately two and a half hours until we arrive at the Punta Tombo region. Upon entering the natural reserve, our first stop will be the Bahia Vera private ranch, a renowned sanctuary for wild marine life.

Here, you’ll have the opportunity to observe sea lions in their untouched natural habitat, a place with minimal human impact, making it truly exceptional. You’ll be able to take photos and approach these animals, always maintaining the proper distance and following your guide’s instructions.

Next, we will continue the tour to Punta Tombo, a protected natural reserve that is home to one of the largest breeding colonies of Magellanic penguins worldwide. Your guide will explain the best ways to interact with the penguins without disturbing their environment, including important guidelines for photography and walking along the trails. Desde Puerto Madryn salimos temprano rumbo a Punta Tombo: caminamos por los senderos entre miles de pingüinos, con el mar golpeando la costa. Después seguimos hacia Bahía Vera para contemplar acantilados, observar aves y recorrer la playa con calma. El guía aportó datos buenísimos; incluso vimos un guanaco cerca del vehículo. Todo estuvo organizado y variado, ideal para conocer paisajes patagónicos en un día.

On our first international family trip, this outing from Puerto Madryn was a real highlight. Punta Tombo’s penguin colony was incredible—seeing them waddle past the boardwalk felt surreal. Bahia Vera added wide-open beaches, cliffs, and wonderfully empty Patagonian scenery. The minibus was clean and comfortable, with plenty of legroom; our driver even handed out chilled water after the dusty stretch. As retired travelers, we appreciated the relaxed pace and easy pickup. Wir sind als Rentnerpaar im Sommer von Puerto Madryn nach Punta Tombo und Bahía Vera gefahren – und waren angenehm überrascht. Der Kleinbus war sauber, klimatisiert und hatte erstaunlich bequeme Sitze mit viel Beinfreiheit; selbst die lange Strecke fühlte sich nicht wie eine Strafexpedition an. Bei der Buchung antwortete uns Lucía noch am selben Abend auf Deutsch und erklärte geduldig, wo wir am Hotel abgeholt werden. Am Vorabend kam zusätzlich eine WhatsApp mit Abholzeit und Wetterhinweis. Die Pinguine waren natürlich die Stars, aber die ruhige, aufmerksame Betreuung machte den Tag besonders entspannt. Ein wunderbarer Ausflug!

On était un petit groupe de huit personnes, parfait pour échanger sans se sentir dans un car bondé. Ma fille ado et moi avons adoré l’ambiance détendue et les explications passionnées du guide. À Punta Tombo, les manchots passaient à quelques mètres de nous ; l’un a même traversé le sentier juste devant nos chaussures. Puis Bahía Vera nous a offert des falaises dorées, une mer turquoise et une pause tranquille face au vent. Une journée mémorable, très bien organisée.
