This kayak excursion offers you the unique opportunity to reach secluded spots that are only accessible by water, including exclusive private beaches. You can choose between two fascinating routes: one leading to the “little island” on Lake Lacar, and the other exploring the Machonico Channel together with Pichi Machonico Lake.
During your Kayaking experience on Lake Lacar and Pichi Machonico, you will immerse yourself in nature, surrounded by crystal-clear lakes, lush green forests, and majestic mountains.
Throughout the tour, a certified guide will accompany you, providing all the necessary equipment to ensure your safety. You will also have the chance to enjoy a snack during one of the various stops along the way.
Tour Description
The day before your adventure, we will hold an informative briefing where you will receive all the details about the meeting time or the exact time for your pick-up at your accommodation.
You will have the opportunity to choose between two exciting options to suit your preferences:
- Option 1: Lake Lacar and Islita.
This excursion lasts 4 hours.
Departures are available both in the morning and afternoon.
We will gather at the pier in San Martin de los Andes, where your guide will provide the necessary equipment, give you a paddling introduction, and explain all safety measures.
Our journey begins by paddling across Lake Lacar within the bay that borders San Martin de los Andes before heading out onto the open lake. We will explore the northern shore, following the impressive granite cliffs. The crystal-clear water allows us to spot trout, aquatic plants, and even submerged trees.
We will reach secluded beaches that are only accessible by water. If the weather and water temperature are favorable, there will be a chance to swim in the lake’s pristine waters.
We will paddle approximately 5 kilometers until we arrive at “La Islita,” a private beach where we’ll stop to enjoy a snack and take time to immerse ourselves in the tranquility of the surroundings.
After a 4-hour journey, we’ll return to the shores of San Martin de los Andes, where we will return our equipment and conclude the tour.
- Option 2: Machonico Channel and Pichi Machonico Lake
This tour has a duration of 5 hours.
You can choose between morning or afternoon departures.
Our shuttle will pick you up from your accommodation for a 30-minute drive along National Route 40, leading us to Lake Machonico on the scenic Seven Lakes Route.
Upon arrival, our guide will equip you and provide a briefing on paddling techniques and safety instructions.
We will start our navigation by crossing Lake Machonico to reach the mouth of the Machonico Channel. As we spend about half an hour paddling through the channel, you will enjoy immersive contact with the Andean forest and marvel at the unique landscape of crystal-clear, emerald waters.
At the end of the channel, we will enter Lake Pichi Machonico, a small lake nestled in a forest surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, and caves at the heart of the Andes. Here, you will experience profound silence and the fresh scents of nature.
We will take a break at this lake to enjoy a snack, take in the scenery, and recharge for our return.
After 5 hours of exploration, we will reach the shores of Lake Machonico, where our transportation will be waiting to take you back to your accommodation.
