The ascent typically takes around 3 hours, with an additional couple of hours needed to return to the starting point. Tour Description

The Colorado Volcano is a prominent hill located very close to the town of San Martín de los Andes, and its summit is visible from numerous locations including Catritre, the Route of the 7 Lakes, Quilaquina, Trompul, Lago Lolog, among others.
Our adventure begins with the pick-up of each passenger from their accommodation, heading towards the base of the mountain. The drive to the starting point takes approximately 40 minutes.
Once we start the hike, we will cross the pampas that lead us closer to the mountain’s base. Following a stream, we will enter a vast lenga forest, where trees can reach up to 30 meters high, and we’ll trek through canaverals of Colihues. The trail leads us deeper into a canyon with a steady, manageable ascent.
As we climb, the vegetation becomes sparser, revealing increasingly impressive views of the entire Lacar Basin, until the forest transitions into low shrubs.
Along the route, we will pass by numerous natural rock viewpoints before reaching the pre-summit, where the ground turns a deeper red as we approach the border. The texture of the rocks resembles pumice stone, a sign that we are entering the area of the ancient volcanic cone, where multiple eruptions have left a bath of solidified lava covering the summit.
The summit itself is the focal point of the region. From here, you’ll enjoy a panoramic 360-degree view, featuring Lacar Lake, the Chapelco mountain range, Cerro Abanico, the entire mountain range, Cerro Sabana, Mallo, Lago and Cerro Lolog, the iconic Lanín Volcano, and countless other landmarks.
The tour concludes with a comfortable return transfer, dropping passengers back at their hotels.
