Tour Description
The excursion begins early in the morning as we pick you up from your hotel in El Calafate and set off towards Los Glaciares National Park, located 80 km away.
After about an hour, we will enter the National Park and proceed to the pier at port "Bajo las Sombras". Here, we’ll board a boat for a 20-minute navigation across the Rico arm of Lago Argentino, where you’ll enjoy stunning views of the imposing face of the Perito Moreno Glacier.
Upon reaching the opposite shore, we will disembark, and our bilingual mountain guides will greet you and lead you to a small refuge. There, they will provide a briefing about the adventure ahead, including details about the trek and important safety instructions.
We will then take a walk to reach the glacier access point. Once there, the guides will equip each participant with crampons to attach to your shoes, making it easier to walk on the ice.
Once everyone is ready, we’ll set off on our hike across the Glacier. At the start, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the vast ice expanse.
Throughout the 4-hour walk, our guides will share information about the region’s flora, fauna, general glaciology, and the unique phenomenon that sometimes causes the Perito Moreno Glacier to rupture.
Midway through the trek, we will pause at a sheltered spot to enjoy lunch on the ice. This is a perfect time to relax and recharge for the second half of the excursion, during which you’ll discover blue lagoons nestled within the glacier and scenic viewpoints offering panoramic vistas of the National Park.
Returning to solid ground, we will begin our descent back to the port to board the boat and sail to our starting point.
At this stage of the tour, you’ll have free time to explore the walkways built in front of the Perito Moreno Glacier and visit balconies that offer spectacular views—an ideal spot for taking unforgettable photos!
In the afternoon, we will return by bus to your hotel in El Calafate.
