Tour Description

This exclusive expedition begins at 7 a.m. from Calafate. After picking you up from your hotel, we will set out along the legendary Route 40, skirting the shores of Lake Argentino and crossing the Santa Cruz River. During the journey, our guide will share fascinating stories about Darwin and Fitz Roy, who navigated this river nearly to this very spot.
Our adventure continues to the La Leona River, following its scenic canyon until we arrive, after 1 hour and 15 minutes, at the historic Paso La Leona route hotel—an almost museum-like stop on Route 40—where you can enjoy coffee and homemade pastries. From here, we will proceed alongside Lake Viedma, with the stunning Andes Mountains in the background, including Mount Fitz Roy and Mount Torre.
Before reaching our destination, we will pause at the Viedma Glacier viewpoint, where you can take in breathtaking panoramic views of the glacier, the mountain range, and the iconic Cerro Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre.

We will arrive at the mountain village of El Chaltén after a 3-hour journey, covering 220 km. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed and then given the opportunity to explore on your own, walking the self-guided trails that start from El Chaltén and lead to some of the most remarkable viewpoints of Fitz Roy or Cerro Torre. !important;">
Our trekking guide will provide advice on the best trail options based on your fitness level and will supply trail maps. For lunch, you will receive a lunch box to carry in your backpack and enjoy during your hike, or you may have lunch at a local restaurant, as determined by your guide depending on the weather.
Between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m., depending on the season, the group will reconvene to begin the return journey to El Calafate.
