The Cañadón Experience trek offers the ideal way to access the Estancia 25 de Mayo Section, unveiling the natural wonders of the canyon shaped by the Calafate stream and the surrounding hills.
Throughout this 7 km hike, you will encounter the region’s unique fauna and flora, impressive geological formations, and fascinating marine fossils that reveal the evolutionary history of the area.
Along with the chance to discover a virtually untouched part of Patagonia, your adventure concludes with a delicious lunch at the Estancia 25 de Mayo Section.
Tour Description
The tour begins with the pick-up of guests from their hotel in El Calafate. If you are staying in non-authorized accommodation (such as Airbnb or a private residence), the designated meeting point will be at the ACA Parking Lot or the roundabout near the Secretary of Tourism.
We will depart from the city heading south in a 4x4 vehicle. After a 3 km drive, we will reach the starting point of a 3-hour hiking adventure.
Sheltered from the wind, we will traverse canyons and streams, discovering the untouched landscapes of Patagonia. Along the way, you’ll spot a great variety of birds, river trout, and steppe flora. We will also encounter marine fossils embedded in ancient geological formations, highlighting the region’s environmental evolution through the ages.
The hike will conclude after 7 km at the Estancia Section, situated 800 meters above sea level, where we will enjoy a complete lunch together.
The experience concludes with the transfer of guests back to their hotels in El Calafate.
