Tour Description

Departure from El Calafate is scheduled for around 08:30 am, taking gravel road No. 15, also known as the “Camino de las Estancias”. Throughout the journey, it is common to spot condors, foxes, and hares, with Cerro Frías standing out as a main feature of the landscape.
Upon arrival at the ranch, after traveling along the shore of Lake Roca and entering the Los Glaciares National Park, you will be greeted by your host guide. You will be welcomed to the Estancia and escorted to the Quincho, where you can enjoy a hot beverage (tea, coffee, or mate) along with homemade pastries. This is a perfect moment to relax and take in the breathtaking view of the Andes Mountain Range.
The walking tour begins with a visit to the facilities of a traditional Patagonian ranch. The guide will share the history of the Estancia’s first settlers and its cattle farming tradition, while also offering an informative overview of the Perito Moreno Glacier ruptures and their impact on the area.
Returning to the Quincho, you will find the grill prepared and ready for guests to savor a delicious Patagonian lamb barbecue, all while enjoying the spectacular views of the Cordillera.
After lunch, a guided horseback ride of approximately three hours will take place, providing a deeper connection with the landscape. The tour heads east from the ranch, following a path through the native ñire forest, featuring species such as calafate, grills, notros, cherries, lengas, and a variety of wildflowers including topa-topa, orchids, peas, and dandelions. The trail is known as the crystal cord, named for the occasional quartz crystals seen along the way.
The path winds upwards, with the scenery becoming increasingly dramatic as you ascend. Near the summit, weather permitting, you may enjoy views of the different arms of Lago Argentino, such as Brazo Sur, Brazo Rico, and Lago Roca. With some luck, you might witness the majestic flight of the Condor. The return follows a route that traverses forests of lengas and ñires until reaching La Angostura, where Lake Argentino is fed by the waters of Lago Roca.
Afterwards, we will begin the journey back to Calafate.
