Tour Description
At the scheduled time, we will depart from our selected hotels and set out on the iconic Route 40. Along the way, you'll enjoy views of Argentino Lake, the Santa Cruz River, and the La Leona River, as well as an amazing panoramic view of the Andes Mountains, featuring Fitz Roy Mountain.
We will make a brief stop of about 15 minutes at Hotel La Leona, an important historical site, where you'll have the opportunity to stock up on supplies and visit its small museum. Our journey then continues along the southern edge of Lake Viedma, skirting Cerro Los Hornos, until we reach Estancia Santa Teresita.
Here, we will disembark to begin our hike. The trek will take us through a land depression where you can discover petrified logs scattered on the surface, some as large as 1.20 meters in diameter! You'll also be able to spot fossil remains from various types of dinosaurs that once roamed this area. The hike lasts approximately 3 hours, and we will pause for lunch within the paleontological site.
After our walk, we will return to La Leona to use the facilities before heading back to our selected hotels in El Calafate.
