Trekking And Boat Trip In Los Glaciares National Park

The tour starts early in the morning with pick-up from centrally located hotels in El Calafate. As you travel to Los Glaciares National Park, a bilingual guide provides insights about the region, its unique flora and fauna, and what to expect throughout the day.

Upon arrival at the South Glacier Pier, the adventure begins on the South Arm of Lake Argentino, gradually making your way deeper into the Andes. The scenery transforms along the way, alternating between rugged mountains, lush forests, and vast ice walls.

After reaching La Roca dock, the first hike commences. This trek covers about 2 km through the lenga forest, leading uphill to a natural viewpoint that offers breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Frías before descending to its shoreline.

The journey continues with a crossing of Lake Frías on an open semi-rigid boat, sailing for approximately 10 to 15 minutes to reach the opposite shore.

From this point, the second hike begins, covering roughly 4.5 km through forests, glacial moraines, and ancient valleys until you arrive at the stunning Laguna Frías Superior.

The excursion concludes in front of a spectacular natural amphitheater created by the Grande, Cubo, and Dickson glaciers—remnants of the ancient Frías Glacier. In this untouched environment, you will have free time to unwind, take in the magnificent scenery, and enjoy a picnic lunch with glacier views, weather permitting. If the weather is unfavorable, lunch will be provided inside a dome-shaped shelter near Lake Frías.

Once the adventure ends, the return trip follows the same scenic route back to El Calafate, arriving at sunset.
