Field Day And Visit To Penguin Colony

Once the bus collects us from the designated meeting point, we will depart from Puerto Madryn at 8:30 am, embarking on a journey of approximately 75 km through the Patagonian steppe. Our first destination is the southern tip of the Golfo Nuevo entrance, where the iconic Punta Ninfas lighthouse stands—a crucial landmark for sailors navigating into the gulf.

Along the shores near Punta Ninfas, we will have the opportunity to observe the breeding sites of elephant seals and sea lions.

Our adventure continues to El Pedral, an authentic Patagonian estancia that serves as a living museum and offers a glimpse into the region’s history.

Next, we will visit the Magellanic penguin colony in the El Pedral reserve. A guided walk among their nests provides an up-close look at these fascinating creatures.

Since 2009, when the first 14 pairs of Magellanic penguins arrived at El Pedral, the colony has flourished. Today, the reserve is home to approximately 6,000 penguins.

Meanwhile, from early in the morning, the main grill master and his team will be preparing a traditional Patagonian lamb, renowned for its unforgettable flavor. We will enjoy a delicious lunch inside the estancia house.

After lunch, while children play in the pool or explore the farm, guests can relax in the warmth of the barbecue area, savoring a cup of tea or coffee and a classic Welsh cake, before we begin our journey back.
