We depart from Puerto Madryn early in the morning towards Punta Tombo, a sanctuary for thousands of Magellanic penguins. Here, you’ll enjoy a walk among these charming birds and encounter other Patagonian wildlife such as guanacos, armadillos, maras, rheas, foxes, seagulls, and more.
Following this up-close wildlife encounter, our journey continues to Estancia Las Bardas, where we’ll explore their vineyard and winery and enjoy tastings of their locally produced wines. To top off the experience, we’ll savor a delicious Patagonian lamb roast, all while surrounded by breathtaking landscapes.

Tour Description
Our day starts bright and early as we pick you up from your accommodation located in the city center.
Our first destination is Punta Tombo, home to the largest continental colony of Magellanic penguins in the world. Here, you’ll have the chance to observe these charming creatures in their natural habitat and walk alongside them. The reserve not only shelters penguins but also features a rich variety of wildlife such as guanacos, piches, maras, rheas, foxes, seagulls, cormorants, and skuas.
After enjoying some free time among this fascinating fauna, following the guide’s safety instructions, we continue to Trelew to visit Estancia Las Bardas. This estate is renowned for its handcrafted Pinot Noir and Syrah wines, as well as its vast olive groves.
We start our visit by discovering the olive groves, where experts will explain the process of cultivating olives and producing olive oil, covering every step from planting to pressing, storage, and labeling.
Then, we move on to the winery to learn about the art of winemaking. Local winemakers will introduce us to each phase of the production process, from grape harvesting to bottling, including fermentation and barrel aging.
Our experience continues with a brief wine tasting, paired with local specialties and regional treats. The sommelier will share insights about the combination of flavors and textures with different wine varieties and recommend their ideal serving temperatures.
To wrap up our day, we’ll enjoy lunch at Estancia Las Bardas, featuring a delicious Patagonian lamb, making for a complete and memorable experience in Chubut. We finish our excursion by heading back to the departure city.
