The excursion starts with a relaxing boat ride where you can admire the region’s wildlife and landscapes, including pristine beaches, dramatic cliffs, whales, dolphins, and a variety of seabirds.
When you arrive at the stunning Punta Loma Protected Natural Area, you'll have the unique opportunity to swim with sea lions and experience their natural habitat for approximately 50 minutes. Wearing a lightweight wetsuit and equipped with a snorkel and mask, you’ll find it easy to interact with these playful members of Patagonia’s marine life.

Tour Description
The tour starts with a meeting with our guides and instructors at the designated point in the heart of Puerto Madryn City. From this location, we will head towards the beach and board the boat that will transport us to the area where the Sea Lion colony resides.
During the boat ride, you’ll have the chance to admire breathtaking views of the beach, cliffs, and the city of Puerto Madryn itself. Throughout the 25-minute journey, it is common to spot a variety of seabirds, and depending on the time of year, you might even see whales and dolphins.
We will land on a small beach within the Punta Loma Protected Natural Area, where you will receive theoretical training on snorkeling techniques, as well as guidelines on how to behave within the protected area. You will learn about buoyancy—remember, with the neoprene suit, no additional flotation device is required, as the suit itself will keep you afloat. It’s important to respect that we are guests in the animals’ natural habitat.
Before entering the water, the sea lions will often approach the boat, curiously watching and eager to see who will be the first to join them in the sea.
Once everyone is properly equipped, we’ll gradually enter the water. The sea lions will begin to swim closer, displaying curiosity and little fear. While touching them is not allowed, you’ll observe them continuing their daily activities, swimming around us and even including us in their movements. The snorkeling session will last about 45 minutes.
After the activity, we will return to Puerto Madryn city by boat.
