Don’t miss this exclusive tour, the only opportunity to visit and walk on Martillo Island, home to one of the three Magellanic penguin colonies as well as a Gentoo penguin colony. You will always be accompanied by expert guides, the only ones authorized to lead tours on this island.
Additionally, we will sail the Beagle Channel to reach Lobos Island and Bird Island. From the boat, you’ll have the chance to observe abundant local wildlife such as cormorants and sea lions with their pups. The itinerary also includes a passage by the renowned Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, known as the Lighthouse at the End of the World.
The group size is limited to just 20 people in order to protect the animals and their natural environment.
Tour Description
We will start our day by gathering at our office located at the Ushuaia tourist pier.
From there, we will board a bus and travel along Route No. 3 and Route J, heading towards Martillo Island while enjoying the stunning landscapes of the Tierra del Fuego forest.
Once we reach the embarkation point, we will sail for about 20 minutes in a semi-rigid boat to the island. Upon arrival, we will disembark and spend an hour walking among the Magellanic and Gentoo penguins, accompanied by a specialized guide who will share insightful information about their lives as well as provide recommendations and safety tips for interacting with these incredible animals.
After an hour of exploring alongside the penguins, we will begin our return journey to Ushuaia.
But the adventure continues, as we will meet again at our office in the afternoon to explore more of Ushuaia. At the dock, we will check in and set off on a scenic boat ride along the magnificent Beagle Channel. Departing from the tourist dock, we will cruise through Ushuaia Bay and enter the Beagle Channel via Paso Chico. Our navigation will take us around Bird Island, offering an excellent opportunity to observe Tierra del Fuego’s diverse birdlife. Next, we will head to Isla de los Lobos, where we can see both one- and two-haired sea lions, with commentary from a professional guide.
Upon reaching Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, we will observe colonies of imperial cormorants and rock cormorants, while listening to the story of the SS Monte Cervantes shipwreck, which occurred in 1930. There will be time for everyone to take memorable photos of the lighthouse.
Our journey continues as we approach and land on Karelo Island, part of the Bridges Islands, where we will see Yámanas shell middens. We will take a guided walk, lasting about 20 minutes and suitable for all levels, leading us to a panoramic viewpoint perfect for photography.
As our adventure concludes, we will enjoy views of the mountain range surrounding Ushuaia and its pristine nature, returning to the tourist dock in the evening after a day rich in history and breathtaking scenery.
