Our journey includes a visit to the Wolf and Bird Islands, where you’ll have the opportunity to see sea lions along with over 20 different bird species in their natural habitat.
Next, we head to Martillo Island, home to a vibrant colony of Magellanic Penguins. From the boat, you’ll enjoy watching these penguins both on land and swimming in the water—a truly spectacular sight.
Tour Description
Our journey begins as we depart from Ushuaia’s tourist port, heading towards the heart of the Beagle Channel. As we sail away, you’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Ushuaia’s coastline and the impressive Olivia and Five Brothers mountains.
We navigate southwest, drawing closer to Isla de los Lobos, where you can observe sea lions in their natural environment directly from the boat. Continuing on, we visit Bird Island, home to both Magellanic and Imperial Cormorants, as well as an excellent spot for viewing diverse marine birdlife. The furthest point of our navigation is the iconic Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, located in the archipelago of the same name. On these small islands, it’s possible to spot remains of the Monte Cervantes, a shipwreck from 1930.
Sailing along the southern shoreline of Tierra del Fuego’s main island, we pass by Estancia Remolino, where the Monte Sarmiento ship remains stranded. As we cross the Beagle Channel from north to south, you’ll see Gable Island and the Puerto Williams Naval Base (situated on Navarino Island, Republic of Chile). Upon arrival at Hammer Island, we pause to observe the Magellanic Penguin colony, which nests here during the summer months.
We then make our way back to Ushuaia’s port, enjoying views of the Tunnel and Fique ranches along the way.
