Tour Description
This canoeing and trekkingexcursion (also called Yamaning)on Gable Island is ideal for travelers who wish to venture off the beaten path and experience an authentic immersion in Fuegian nature, in one of the most untouched areas of Tierra del Fuego.
Your adventure starts early, departing from Ushuaia at approximately 08:30 hs, and heading toward the scenic Beagle Channel coast. Upon arrival around 10:30 a.m., participants receive a comprehensive technical and safety briefing from expert guides, who explain the proper use of equipment and the basic techniques for paddling inflatable canoes.
Once on the water, we will navigate the Beagle Channel, paddling alongside pristine shores and awe-inspiring scenery, retracing the historic routes of the Yámana people—the original inhabitants of the region who traveled these waters by canoe for millennia. This experience provides direct interaction with the natural environment, tranquility, native wildlife, and breathtaking vistas at the End of the World. Around 12:30 pm, we will finish paddling and disembark on Gable Island, a secluded island with limited access. Here, a hot lunch awaits in an exclusive and cozy setting, offering panoramic views that encourage relaxation and a deep connection with nature.
After lunch, at around 1:30 pm, we begin a guided trek across Gable Island, exploring lush forests, rugged coastlines, and natural viewpoints. This moderately challenging hike allows you to delve into the island’s unique landscapes and enjoy an unparalleled sense of isolation, surrounded only by untouched wilderness. The trek concludes around 4:00 PM, after which we return by canoe to the mainland, where transportation will be waiting to take us back to Ushuaia. We expect to arrive in the city around 6:30 PM, completing a memorable day of adventure, nature, and exploration at the real End of the World.
