Tour Description
Our tour begins with a departure from centrally located accommodations. We travel 16 km outside the city, journeying along the distinctive scenery provided by National Route N.º 3 on the way to the winter resorts.
The winter resort where the excursion takes place is called Wolf Valley, renowned because its owner participated in the famous dog sled race, the Iditarod, in Alaska. He returned to the country with wolves to crossbreed them with his dogs and enhance the races, which is how the location got its name.
After a brief introduction about Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Huskies and a technical and safety briefing about the bicycles, we get ready to start our adventure on these electric bikes.
The route covers 10 km of snow and ice, traversing frozen lakes and taking in breathtaking scenery along the way.
The tour is inspired by the life and behavior of beavers, a species introduced to Tierra del Fuego in 1946 and not native to the region. This serves as a perfect example of how human intervention can significantly impact biodiversity and natural processes, even in distant places. Beavers are considered nature’s engineers, as they directly or indirectly influence the resources available for other species by creating significant changes in the ecosystem.
The journey includes a 4 km exploration in search of a network of 4 beaver lodges, some old and inactive and others still active, where you can observe the remarkable work of these animals with their dams and their impact on the Fuegian forests.
