Tour Description

On this half-day adventure that blends trekking and paddling, we will pick you up directly from your hotel and head to the starting location. Our journey begins with a gentle 40-minute hike through the native forests and peatlands unique to Tierra del Fuego. Upon reaching Laguna Mariposa, we’ll unpack and inflate the packrafts that each participant has carried in their backpack. A packraft is a lightweight, portable inflatable boat designed for all types of water, from technical whitewater to ocean bays and fjords, making it easy to transport over long distances. While we prepare the boats, you'll receive an introductory briefing on safety measures and paddling techniques.
At the lagoon, we’ll take some time to practice paddling skills before heading onto the river. We then embark on an hour-long downstream paddle, surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes of the Andes mountains and valleys. Along the river, it’s common to spot ducks, various birds, and occasionally beavers.
Our first stop will be at a riverbank beach, where the Laguna Esmeralda stream merges with the Olivia River. Here, we’ll pause for a snack and some relaxation, taking in the awe-inspiring natural setting.
The journey continues through sections flanked by native forest and shrubs along the riverbanks, offering a deeper connection with the pristine landscape. At the end of the excursion, we return to our starting point and transfer you back to your hotel, concluding a day filled with adventure and the untouched beauty of nature.
