Fuimos dos amigas y la pasamos genial en el Bautismo de Nieve. Aunque era verano, Cerro Martial parecía de película. Martín, nuestro guía, conocía el terreno: nos mostró una lenga retorcida por el viento y explicó por qué la nieve se acumula en esa ladera. Éramos apenas ocho, así que hubo tiempo para ajustar las raquetas, hacer preguntas y reírnos bastante. El ambiente fue relajado, cero rebaño turístico. Cerramos con chocolate caliente y volvimos cansadas, felices y con nieve hasta las pestañas.

From the hotel pickup to Cerro Martial, everything felt easy: our minibus was warm, roomy, and had plenty of space for backpacks and snow gear. No Cerro Martial, além de brincar na neve, fizemos a descida de trenó, caminhamos com raquetes e tivemos tempo para tirar fotos no mirante, com Ushuaia e o Canal Beagle lá embaixo. Guide Martín kannte jede Kurve und erklärte sogar, warum der Schnee am windgeschützten Hang länger bleibt. Neben der Schneeschuhwanderung gab es Rodeln, eine kurze Iglu-Pause mit Mate und lustige Spiele im Schnee. Kleine Gruppen, gute Ausrüstung, null Stress. Meine Tochter hat mich beim Wettrutschen natürlich besiegt – angeblich „wegen der Technik“.

Nous avons réservé l’excursion depuis la France, et l’équipe nous a répondu le jour même. Elle a même conseillé des chaussettes de rechange : la neige était humide ce matin-là.
