Vinciguerra Glacier Trekking

Starting at 08:00 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotels and set out towards the Andorra Valley, a location where many locals established one of Ushuaia’s most notable spontaneous urban settlements.

By 08:30 a.m., after leaving our vehicle, the guided trek continues along a river formed by melting snow that winds through the peat bogs covering the valley floor. This terrain is wet and can be slippery for much of the journey, so wearing suitable footwear is essential.

Once inside the forest, the trail climbs steadily. The initial ascent is fairly steep, but the path becomes gentler as we approach the tree line, at about 600 meters above sea level, which we will reach near 10:30 a.m. Above the forest, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the dramatic peaks of the surrounding mountain range that encircle the valley where our hike began.

At 11:30 a.m., the climb continues alongside a mountain stream fed by a glacial lagoon. Decades ago, the Vinciguerra Glacier would calve icebergs into this lagoon. Although the glacier has now retreated several meters from the water’s edge, it offers even more fascination with its impressive ice caves and the magical allure that still pervades this breathtaking area.

Around 12:30 p.m., we will reach the base of the glacier, where we will enjoy our lunch. After an hour’s rest, we will begin our descent, aiming to return to our vehicles by 4:00 p.m. for the transfer back to your hotel in Ushuaia.
