Tour Description

Starting at 08:00 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotels and set out towards the Andorra Valley, a location where many locals established one of Ushuaia’s most notable spontaneous urban settlements.

By 08:30 a.m., after leaving our vehicle, the guided trek continues along a river formed by melting snow that winds through the peat bogs covering the valley floor. This terrain is wet and can be slippery for much of the journey, so wearing suitable footwear is essential.

Once inside the forest, the trail climbs steadily. The initial ascent is fairly steep, but the path becomes gentler as we approach the tree line, at about 600 meters above sea level, which we will reach near 10:30 a.m. Above the forest, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the dramatic peaks of the surrounding mountain range that encircle the valley where our hike began.

At 11:30 a.m., the climb continues alongside a mountain stream fed by a glacial lagoon. Decades ago, the Vinciguerra Glacier would calve icebergs into this lagoon. Although the glacier has now retreated several meters from the water’s edge, it offers even more fascination with its impressive ice caves and the magical allure that still pervades this breathtaking area.

Around 12:30 p.m., we will reach the base of the glacier, where we will enjoy our lunch. After an hour’s rest, we will begin our descent, aiming to return to our vehicles by 4:00 p.m. for the transfer back to your hotel in Ushuaia.

Fuimos en familia y el grupo chico, de apenas ocho personas, hizo toda la diferencia: caminamos tranquilos, con buen ritmo y charlas amenas, sin sentirnos apurados. El sendero atravesó bosque fueguino, turberas y sectores con barro hasta la Laguna Vinciguerra, rodeada de montañas; el glaciar apareció imponente al final. Nos encantó parar a tomar mate frente al hielo mientras el guía explicaba las grietas. Todo estuvo muy bien coordinado y volvimos felices.

Der Transfer ab Ushuaia war überraschend bequem: pünktlich, geräumiger Minibus, verstellbare Sitze und genug Platz für Rucksäcke (und unsere müden Beine nach dem Gipfel!). Die Fahrt bis zum Ausgangspunkt lief entspannt, mit klaren Infos vom Fahrer. Das Vinciguerra-Trekking selbst war fordernd, aber grandios; am Gletscher fühlten wir uns wie zwei kleine Polarprofis – nur mit weniger Kondition. Für unsere Hochzeitsreise ein starkes Abenteuer ohne Organisationsstress.

On était seulement huit randonneurs avec notre guide : ambiance détendue, presque une sortie entre copains. La journée combine marche en forêt, traversée d’une tourbière, montée vers la lagune Vinciguerra et découverte du glacier avec crampons. Pendant la pause déjeuner, notre guide a repéré un renard au loin : tout le monde a dégainé son téléphone en même temps ! On a pique-niqué face à la glace avant de redescendre tranquillement. Le petit groupe permettait de poser des questions et de profiter du paysage sans se sentir pressés. Fatigués, mais ravis — nos jambes, un peu moins !
